The end is near for Caleb Wilson, and we now know when that will be with a commitment date confirmed — plus three finalists remaining in consideration.

Joining the 247Sports College Basketball Show with Adam Finkelstein on Friday, the five-star forward announced a decision is coming next week with Kentucky among the trio of schools on the list.

“I’ll be committing next Thursday (on January 23), it’ll be on a huge platform. I’m really excited for it,” Wilson said. “My final three will be Ohio State, Kentucky and UNC.”

Rated as the No. 5 recruit and No. 2 power forward in the latest On3 Industry Ranking, Wilson shared his thoughts on those three finalists on the show:

Ohio State: “Coach (Jake) Diebler, he’s a great coach. I really enjoyed my visit there, it was definitely extremely fun and exciting. They have a great guard in Bruce Thornton and I feel like that’s going to be very important with the guard I play with next year. That’s why I like Ohio State.”

Kentucky: “Mark Pope, he’s a great guy on and off the court, and he coaches with energy. They’re having a great year this year, I can’t even lie. They’re playing very good. Their system is very beneficial to long fours like me, the way that they play. It’s a blue blood, so it’s definitely one of the best fan bases and basketball cultures in the country.”

North Carolina: “Coach (Hubert) Davis is a great guy on and off the court. North Carolina is a prestigious university with basketball or without. They have great team and I feel like I could go on that team and step up and become the man at North Carolina. I definitely feel like it’ll be a great opportunity with Elliot Cadeau possibly returning, that would be a great guard to play with.”

Will Mark Pope get his guy? The wait is almost over.
