It’s commitment day for five-star forward Caleb Wilson — or is it? Kentucky’s top recruiting target will choose between the Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels, telling On3’s Joe Tipton the announcement will come on NBA on TNT after the Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers game.

The issue? That game doesn’t tip-off until 10 PM ET, meaning Wilson’s time to shine won’t come until the early hours of Friday morning — not Thursday evening.

He has also cut Ohio State from his final list, meaning it’ll be UK or UNC for the No. 6 overall recruit in 2025.

“I will be committing on NBA on TNT tonight after the Celtics game because of the platform and the show’s presence in the city of Atlanta and I will be choosing from UK and UNC,” he told On3.

North Carolina is considered the heavy favorite to land Wilson after Kentucky carried the momentum back in the fall. The Tar Heels currently have a 89.7 percent chance to earn his commitment, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with three expert picks submitted in favor of UNC.

Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno and Acaden Lewis make up Kentucky’s 2025 signing class, all three officially putting pen to paper with the Wildcats during the early period in the fall. Should Mark Pope and his staff strike out on Wilson, they are expected to ramp things up with top-five prospect Nate Ament, who is down to a group of 11 that includes Alabama, Arkansas, BYU, Duke, Georgetown, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Texas. The 6-9 forward, ranked No. 3 nationally, is expected to commit in the spring, opening the door for a late push from Kentucky.

Mark Pope, I mean, what a guy. He calls and FaceTime’s me all the time, texts me. I mean, they will not stop letting me hear their voice all the time,” he said of the Wildcats this past weekend.

The first order of business is to see where Wilson lands late tonight — or early tomorrow morning, rather. That’ll help Kentucky decide where to go next, if necessary.
