Duke fans are weird. You have to be kind of weird to cheer for that program. One Cameron Crazy took things in a much more bizarre direction before the Blue Devils hosted Louisville Monday night.

Instead of wearing a speedo or painting his chest to mess with the last-place Louisville basketball team, one Duke fan decided to Catfish his opponent before the game. For those unfamiliar with the practice, Manti Te’o is the victim of the most extreme case of someone perpetrating a hoax to cultivate a personal relationship with a stranger online.

This strange Duke student created what appears to be a fake Tinder profile to match with visiting basketball players. Upon swiping right with Kamari Lands, this student had a conversation with the Louisville freshman who was trying to make — what he thought — a young local woman’s acquaintance. Instead, he was talking to a weirdo Cameron Crazy.

How do we know this happened? The weirdo Cameron Crazy put screenshots of the direct messages on a sign and brought it to the game.

Is it weird that Lands was trying to meet a young women during his one night in town? Of course not. This is not a new practice for college basketball players. It’s not even a new method. Marshall Henderson was sliding into the DMs of KSR interns a decade ago. College kids spend plenty of time on dating apps, even the ones you watch play sports on television. That’s normal.

Catfishing someone is weird. Doing it to burn a guy who hardly plays for the worst Power Five team in America? That’s bizarre. To brag about it by turning evidence of said Catfishing into a sign? This Cameron Crazy might have actually lost his mind. Somebody help him find it.
