LEX 18 is reporting that David Thompson, one of the two police officers caught on camera searching a UK student's dorm room without permission, has been fired. The student, Graham Gaddis, secretly taped the confrontation, which began after eyewitnesses claimed Gaddis had dumped liquor bottles out of his window. Thompson and his partner came to Gaddis' room to investigate, and the three got into an argument over whether or not they could search his room without a warrant. According to student housing policies, university personnel, including university police, may enter a student's residence hall without permission for various reasons. However, they do not have the right to search the room, including that refrigerator, without permission.
