Kentucky cornerback Carrington Valentine was a late day three pick at the 2023 NFL Draft. The three-and-done player in the SEC fell all the way to the seventh round. That means the competition could be fierce to make the 53-man roster.

The Green Bay Packers camp is up and running along with every other franchise in the NFL. The NFC North franchise has starters entrenched at cornerback with veterans Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas returning. However, depth is needed. Valentine could be making a strong push for a roster spot.

On Monday, the rookie out of Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller made an impressive play in practice.

A roster spot in Green Bay could be on the table for Valentine. A two-year starter at Kentucky, Valentine played 1,503 combined snaps over the last two seasons and finished his collegiate career with 118 tackles, 16 pass breakups, and one interception. As a junior, the former three-star recruit took major strides in coverage but had issues finishing one-on-one wins with interceptions. Up in Cheesehead Land, Valentine is flashing some ball skills improvement.

The rookie appears to have a great shot at finding a role for head coach Matt LaFleur in his rookie season.

Another Kentucky cornerback also flashes

Former Kentucky cornerback Chris Westry has been around the block. The class of 2015 signee has spent time with the Dallas Cowboys (2019-20), Baltimore Ravens (2021), and Carolina Panthers (2022). In May, Westry agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns. The journeyman is now looking to make a team at 26 years old.

On Sunday, Westry was shown making a competitive play in 11 vs. 11.

Kentucky defensive backs are now beginning to find homes all across the National Football League. Carrington Valentine and Chris Westry are working hard to make a Week 1 roster.
