Carrington Valentine shoots down UL transfer chatter with a simple L's Down
Kentucky standout cornerback Carrington Valentine has a difficult decision to make this offseason regarding his future. After a breakout season that saw him finish with 46 tackles (33 solo), nine pass deflections, one interception, one sack and one fumble recovery, he could take his talents to the NFL as a likely draft selection.
A better outcome? He returns to Kentucky as a potential star in the secondary, building his draft stock while leading Brad White’s defense. That’s certainly the scenario the Wildcats are pushing for.
And then there’s the least favorable scenario, the transfer portal — unfortunately, those whispers are out there. It makes sense, considering Valentine’s talent and the two years of remaining eligibility he could use. Why wouldn’t a championship contender make a real push? He’d undoubtedly be a popular name.
The recent speculation, though, didn’t have Valentine leaving for, say, Alabama, Georgia or Ohio State. Local mouthpieces down I-64 swore up and down Louisville would actually be the go-to option for the 6-foot, 194-pound defensive back.
Yes, the same program the Wildcats have beaten four straight times between 2018-22 with a combined margin of victory of 122 points (179-57) in that span.
In the UofL talking heads’ minds, UK’s standouts are tripping over themselves to get the hell out of Lexington and play for Jeff Brohm. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play for a guy who went *gasp* 36-34 during his time at Purdue?

I’ll name you one: Carrington Valentine, who took to social media to shut down any and all speculation of his potential interest in Louisville.
His message was quite simple, really. He said just one word, but posted a photo that said a thousand.
“Nah,” he wrote, sharing an image of him throwing the L’s Down during Kentucky’s 26-13 win over the Cardinals back in November.
Valentine has a tough decision to make this offseason, but one thing is clear: Louisville sure as hell won’t be his next stop.
