Cason Wallace named to the Kia NBA All-Rookie Second Team
Before the conference finals begin, the National Basketball Association celebrated its top rookies of the 2023-24 season by revealing the two Kia NBA All-Rookie teams on Monday. Among the 10 honorees, former Kentucky star Cason Wallace was selected to the second team, earning the ninth-most votes of all rookies. Wallace received two first-team and 63 second-team votes from the panel of 99 voters, following the Oklahoma City Thunder’s elimination from the NBA Playoffs.
The young 3-and-D specialist played in 82 games, averaging 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.6 minutes. Wallace’s 49.1 field-goal shooting percentage was the fifth-best among rookies; his 3-point shooting ranked second at 41.9 percent from outside. Wallace began his NBA career shooting 50 percent from 3 through his first 25 games, which led the NBA at the time and made him only the third rookie in history to shoot so well 25 games into a career.
