Two of the best to suit up for the Kentucky Wildcats collided on the gridiron. That’s not a turn of phrase. Will Levis was on the wrong end of a monster hit from Josh Hines-Allen.

The former College Football Defensive Player of the Year teed off on the Tennessee Titan in the second quarter of the AFC South matchup at Nissan Stadium. The blindside shot forced a fumble and left Levis on the ground reeling in pain.

At least the timing of this injury was on Levis’ side. The former Kentucky quarterback was able to get a few extra minutes in the locker room at halftime to shake off the pain, with a little help from pharmaceuticals.

“I have a sprained AC joint. I’ve been playing through it all year,” he said after the game. “I made it worse after that hit, shot it up, played through it. I’m still able to play but it’s not fun.”

It was not a fun day for the Titans. Levis was able to play through the pain, but not particularly well. He finished 19-32 for 168 yards. Tennessee leaned on Tony Pollard, who toted the rock 21 times for 102 yards.

“I was just going to be more cautious with throwing the ball away and not trying to extend plays and not putting myself in harm’s way trying to take hits,” Levis said. “I knew I could still make the throws. Just trying to be a little more careful.”

The Titans did not score a touchdown in the 10-6 loss to Jacksonville. Hines-Allen’s only two tackles were tackles for loss. The result leaves the Titans and Jags both at 3-10 this fall.
