Cats pick up a Football Recruit

by:Matt Jones06/21/06
The UK website Cats Pause is reporting that Kentucky has picked up a football verbal commitment from running back Preston Brown for 2007. Brown is a tailback who originally committed to Oklahoma St a while back, but withdrew his commitment when he was not sure he could meet their academic requirements. I am often fascinated by the whole meeting of academic requirements. Sometimes we hear with recruits that they cant meet Kentucky's requirements and then they go elsewhere, and then sometimes the exact opposite happens. It seems very fishy to me. This commitment is good on the field and also reminds me of when Randolph Morris committed to UK saying he felt more "comfortable" with the academic requirements at Kentucky than Georgia Tech. Morris is actually a very smart young man, but that quote has always made me laugh. I could not find a picture of Preston Brown the football player, but did find this man named Preston Brown who likely would only have been a recruit of Bill Curry's.
