The Cats' decisive loss in Knoxville yesterday doesn't entirely knock them out of contention for a 1-seed in the NCAA tourney, but it certainly did a lot of damage. CBS's resident bracketologist Jerry Palm has taken the liberty of shifting UK down a peg to the 2-seed line, giving Tennessee back that coveted top spot.
At 25-3, with eight Quadrant 1 wins and losses only to top 20 teams, the Volunteers have earned their place as a No. 1 seed. Tennessee's losses have been to Kansas on a neutral court, at Kentucky and at LSU.
Tennessee exacted revenge against Kentucky on Saturday in a 71-52 victory vs. UK and will move back up to the top line of the projected bracket when it is posted on Sunday. The Wildcats, who were a No. 1 seed entering the game, will fall back down to the No. 2 line.

Palm's full lineup of 1-seeds includes Virginia, Gonzaga, Duke, and Tennessee. Yuck.
5th ranked UNC nearly fell to Clemson last night, which would've kept the gap between UK and a 1-seed a bit smaller. Instead it seems the Cats will have to leapfrog at least one other team to get back to the front of the line for a top seed.
Anything's possible though, right?
