Centre's moment in the sun...and the subsequent burn
The Bluegrass's own Centre College was featured on SportsCenter's top 10 plays tonight...unfortunately, their exposure came at the expense of a crushing defeat. Facing the daunting Depauw Tigers in Division III's SCAC conference championship game, the two teams were dead-locked at 61 with 3 seconds remaining. Centre attempted to throw the ball in bounds, but the pass was deflected into the hands of Depauw's Austin Brown at midcourt...just see for yourself (open this link and click on the d-load video link). With the tuition what it is at Centre, it's almost cruel for these students to endure such heartache, but I find peace in the fact that half of the meager student body probably doesn't realize the school even has a team. No title this year in "title town".
