Kentucky tailback Chip Trayanum enters transfer portal
The transfer portal news is not slowing down for the Kentucky football program. Developments are occurring left and right. Surprises are being delivered. One of the biggest transfer adds for the program last offseason has decided to go one-and-done in Lexington.
Kentucky tailback Chip Trayanum entered the transfer portal for the third time on Monday. The class of 2020 recruit will spend his sixth season of eligibility at a fourth school in 2025.
The former blue-chip recruit out of Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban spent his first two seasons at Arizona State playing for head coach Herm Edwards. Chip Trayanum rushed for 692 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Sun Devils. Trayanum moved to Ohio State in 2022 and spent two seasons with the Buckeyes. After playing linebacker as a redshirt sophomore, Trayanum switched back to tailback in 2023 and rushed for 465 yards and three touchdowns in Ryan Day’s offense.
Kentucky was going to give the tailback a chance to be RB1 for the first time in his career, but the injury bug arrived for the redshirt senior in 2024. Chip Trayanum suffered a broken hand injury during fall camp and had a setback during the recovery process. That led to the veteran only playing in three games for the Wildcats. Trayanum finished his Kentucky career with 19 carries for 101 yards.

The tailback with 1,257 career rushing yards enters the free agent market again. Kentucky is now down to three scholarship tailbacks after not signing a high school prospect. Jamarion Wilcox, Jason Patterson, and Tovani Mizell are the only scholarship players at the position on the roster.
