Mikkel Skinner has been committed to Cincinnati since June, but a recent Kentucky offer has him taking a hard look at the Wildcats.

According to Jacob Polacheck of KSR+, Skinner is planning an official visit to Lexington on a date that is still to be determined. Clocking in at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, the Greer (SC) Riverside tight end is considered a four-star prospect and the No. 385 overall recruit in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Ranking.

Skinner was extended an offer by Kentucky associate head coach Vince Marrow on July 10.

Skinner has seen his stock explode in recent weeks with major rankings bumps from multiple recruiting outlets. He’s now considered a considered a Top 300 prospect by On3, 247Sports, and ESPN. Along with Cincinnati, Skinner mainly held offers from mid-major programs before Ohio State offered him in April. Florida was involved prior to his commitment and the Gators hosted him for a visit earlier this year while West Virginia was also in the mix.

Kentucky has been keeping tabs on Skinner for a while now, too. He’s taken multiple unofficial visits to Lexington, coming to campus in March and November of 2023.

According to MaxPreps, as a junior in 2023, Skinner appeared in 11 games for Riverside, recording 44 receptions for 651 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 68 times for 588 yards and another five touchdowns. In total, he averaged 112.6 all-purpose yards per game.

Kentucky has yet to secure a tight end commitment for the class of 2025. The Wildcats recently missed out on four-star Brody Lennon, who landed at Ohio State. Could Skinner end up filling that void?
