Clara Strack named as a National Player of the Week by USBWA
On Tuesday, the USBWA announced that Kentucky sophomore center Clara Strack is one of five Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week following her outstanding performance in the Music City Classic.
Along with Strack, Hailey Van Lith (TCU), Sedona Prince (TCU), Ta’Niya Latson (Florida State), and Aneesah Morrow (LSU) were also tabbed for the honor.
During the Music City Classic, Strack scored a career-high 24 points against Arizona State on Nov. 26. She added 10 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. The 6-foot-5 center went 2-3 (66%) from three, also a career high. On her 19th birthday against No. 19 Illinois the following day, she marked a new career-high 25 points on 12-18 (66%) from the field. She tied a career-high 15 rebounds and added four assists, a block, and a steal.
Currently, Strack is averaging 18.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. She’s also averaging 4.0 assists and 2.8 blocks this season. So far, she has three 20+ point games and four double-doubles. She also scored double-digits in all seven games this season and has started in all of them.

Among the SEC, Strack ranks second in blocks per game (2.86), second in total blocks (20), second in rebounds per game (11.0), fourth in total rebounds (77), third in double-doubles (four), and eighth in points per game (18.3). Nationally, she ranks eighth in blocks per game, 10th in total blocks and rebounds per game, 27th in total rebounds, fourteenth in double-doubles, and 63rd in points per game.
Up next, Strack and the Wildcats take on No. 16 North Carolina on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5:00 p.m. in Chapel Hill for the SEC/ACC Challenge. The matchup between the two AP-ranked opponents will air on ESPN2.
