That's right folks, one of the greatest basketball players of all time and former head coach of the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks will be taking his patented brand of crazy down to the warm sun of the international waters off the coast of Florida, which is where I assume Florida International is located.
The following line from the ESPN article is particularly striking:
"A source said Thomas was intrigued by FIU's location in South Florida, its growing football program and the size of its student body (more than 30,000)."
Apparently Isiah feels that the keys to a successful basketball program include an expanding
football program and a really big pool from which to choose walk-ons. No word on whether the laxness of the state of Florida's sexual harrassment laws played a part in the decision.
