The fervor following the release of EA Sports College Football ’25 has cooled down ever so slightly as the actual games approach. Before week one kicks off Thursday night, the video game has a new update that has drastically improved the virtual Kentucky football roster.

LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson has been added to the video game roster, along with a dozen other noteworthy names around the sport of college football. The former Georgia linebacker was one of the best players in the SEC two years ago and his rating reflects that.

Dumas-Johnson received a player rating of 90 overall in College Football ’25. He’s the fifth-highest ranked ROLB in the video game. The addition bumped up the Kentucky defense to a 90 and now the Wildcats have an overall grade of 87, up three points from an 84.

“Pop’s a head-hunter, for sure,” JJ Weaver said on Wednesday.

Dumas-Johnson showed exactly that during almost two years as a starter for the Georgia Bulldogs. During the Dawgs’ 2022 National Championship campaign, he ranked second on the team in tackles (70) and sacks (4.0), while leading the team in tackles for loss (9.0). He was an All-American and a finalist for the Butkus Award. Dumas-Johnson head-hunted for nine games last fall until his season was ended by an injury, forcing him to reconsider his next step.

Dumas-Johnson was listed as an “OR” in the first Kentucky depth chart alongside Daveren Rayner. That’s not a slight at the new linebacker, rather an indictment on Rayner, who Brad White believes will play a significant role for the defense this fall.

“Depth charts are funny to me — that’s play No. 1,” White said yesterday. “You go to our two top-10 draft picks this year, I don’t know how many combined starts they had on the basketball team. But, obviously, they had plenty of talent and they got plenty of play. It’s the same thing in any sport.”
