— Luckett’s Locks: Big Game Saturday
Showdown Saturday in the SEC
— Georgia at Ole Miss: Another big road test for Kirby Smart‘s team has arrived, and Carson Beck cannot stop turning the football over. However, the Dawgs absolutely wrecked Ole Miss last season, and the big portal class on defense was built specifically to give Lane Kiffin‘s team a legitimate chance to win this game. A loss knocks the Rebels out of the playoff. A win gets Georgia one step closer to an SEC title. This is a huge game in Oxford.
— Alabama at LSU: Alabama has two losses and cannot afford another one. LSU has two losses and cannot afford another one. The Tigers are still in the SEC title hunt with only one league loss. A game between these two on Saturday night in Death Valley nearly always delivers. Add the stakes, and this feels like one of the games you cannot miss this season.
Big stage for Colorado
Could Deion Sanders get into the College Football Playoff? That is currently on the table. Colorado (6-2, 4-1) is one game back of first place in the Big 12, with home games remaining against Utah and Oklahoma State. A win in Lubbock could get realistically create a clear path for the Buffs to get into the postseason.
Texas Tech (6-3, 4-2) isn’t out of the hunt after last week’s road win at Iowa State. The Red Raiders play with tempo and can score in bunches. We should have a wild atmosphere for this afternoon kickoff in West Texas. Expect the Big 12 to deliver more chaos over the next few weeks.
Tricky test for Miami
Outside of the blowout win versus Florida State, we’ve seen Miami continually play close games where some heroics were needed from Cam Ward as this defense continues to allow over 30 points. Will the Canes play another close game in Atlanta?
Georgia Tech could get starting quarterback Haynes King back in the lineup, and typically play swell under head coach Brent Key against ranked teams (7-3 ATS). Could the Yellow Jackets pull the upset?
Do not be surprised if this turns into the game that everyone is watching in the noon window.
The rest of the college football card
— Neal Brown is facing some hot seat pressure, just fired his defensive coordinator, and will again be without his starting quarterback. West Virginia hits the road to face a Cincinnati team with an excellent passing game. However, a loss could turn up the heat on Scott Satterfield. A very interesting game in the Big 12.

— Duke is coming off consecutive brutal losses to SMU and Miami. Now the Blue Devils must travel to NC State. Wolfpack true freshman quarterback CJ Bailey looks like a budding superstar. Neither of these teams is making a playoff run, but a win for either in this spot could turn a respectable season into a good season.
— The Curt Cignetti Show will continue on Saturday afternoon with CBS in town as Indiana hosts Michigan. The Hoosiers have been a wagon all year, and Michigan is having a disappointing season. The Wolverines get a chance at an unexpected big win opportunity in Bloomington. An IU win would get the Hoosiers to 10-0.
— South Carolina and Vanderbilt are very much resume boosters for SEC teams in the playoff race. That makes the result in Nashville important. The winner will enter next week’s top 25. Can Diego Pavia pull off another upset?
— Notre Dame is hosting Florida State, and no one is talking about it. The Seminoles will likely fall to 1-9 as a 2-10 season seems highly likely for Mike Norvell. What a fall this has been in Tallahassee.
— Unranked Oklahoma is laying points on the road against ranked Missouri. Brady Cook is unlikely to suit up for the Tigers, and this offense has been a train wreck without him in the lineup. The dream season in Columbia is slipping away very quickly.
— The Holy War returns on Saturday night, and Utah has a chance to ruin their archrival’s perfect season. BYU heads to Salt Lake City undefeated, and this will serve as the Super Bowl for the Utes. Expect some potential shenanigans in the after dark game this weekend.
