Next weekend’s matchup in Fayetteville between Kentucky and Arkansas will get the College Gameday treatment.

When the Razorbacks (10-7; 1-3 SEC) host the No. 8 Wildcats (13-3; 3-1 SEC) on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 6:00 p.m. EST, the College Gameday crew will set up shop earlier that morning. Host Rece Davis will be joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Jay Williams, Andraya Carter, Christine Williamson, and Seth Greenberg for what will be the third College Gameday event of the 2023-24 college basketball season.

The show will run from 11-12 EST live from Bud Walton Arena on ESPN2, where Kentucky will look to spoil Arkansas’ upset bid.

Choosing Arkansas as the host team for College Gameday is certainly an interesting choice, considering Eric Musselman’s program has disappointed so far this season. Arkansas was actually picked to finish one spot ahead (3rd) of Kentucky (4th) in the preseason SEC Media Poll. However, the Razorbacks have lost three of its last four games against SEC opponents and struggled at times in the non-conference.

But the Kentucky effect cancels that out. College Gameday knows that the Big Blue Nation will tune in. And considering Seth Greenberg predicted the Wildcats to win the national championship during Saturday’s edition of the show, there will likely be plenty of praise going around for John Calipari’s team.

“I’ve got Kentucky,” Greenberg said of his choice. “You talk about long game, you look at Kentucky. How many teams can bring Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham off the bench that can impact the game offensively, defensively? How many teams in the country have two seven-footers — who have only played about 10 games, but in terms of their impact? (Ugonna) Onyenso blocks shots, (Aaron) Bradshaw is a matchup problem, because he can step out and pull you away from the basket. Both are lob threats.

“They’ve got to improve their defense in terms of defending the basketball, defending ball screens, rebounding the ball better. That’s what you have the season for. But if they do those two things, they are the most talented and deepest team that can survive an injury in the backcourt and be unchanged.”

Don’t be surprised when Arkansas calls for a “Red Out” or something close to that, either.

Everyone’s Super Bowl, etc.
