College GameDay, SEC Nation Picks for Kentucky vs. Georgia
The picks are in. Is anyone backing Kentucky, or is the four-letter network all in on the defending National Champs from Georgia? Let’s dive in.
Live from the Cotton Bowl for the Red River Rivalry, former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield shared his appreciation for the program Mark Stoops has built. But he could not pick against Kirby Smart. The memories of his loss to Georgia in the Rose Bowl are still fresh.
Kirk Herbstreit might be the loudest Mark Stoops fan in media. He’s unsure of the Georgia offense, but those doubts aren’t enough for him to publicly predict a Kentucky victory.
Not only was it a clean sweep on the College GameDay set, everyone in Athens on SEC Nation is backing Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs.
“I will not pick against Georgia until they prove me wrong,” said Roman Harper.
Tim Tebow added, “This is the closest this matchup has ever been… but it’s not close enough.”

The College GameDay set is the epicenter of the Ray Davis Fan Club. Last week he ran for a jaw-dropping 280 yards and scored four touchdowns to captivate the college football world.

“Ray Davis has explosive plays. He has great linemen and they know that he’s a weapon, so they’re going to send them off to do it,” said Pat McAfee.
Davis’ big day has many national analysts buying the Cats as a run-first team, in part because that’s what this program has been under Mark Stoops’ watchful eye. The team’s real strength is on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Brad White’s defense will give the Wildcats a chance in every game they play. They face a tall task this week, containing All-American Brock Bowers.
“If you look in Kentucky’s defense, they might have a problem matching up with Brock Bowers because he’s one of the best receivers — he’s not a tight end — in the country,” said Desmond Howard. “But they have a linebacker from Georgia named Trevin Wallace. Now Trevin’s been clocked at 22 miles per hour by GPS. That’s receiver-likes speed, so watch out for that matchup. How are they gonna defend Brock Bowers? Watch out for Trevin on him.”
