College GameDay will head to Auburn for Kentucky matchup (SHOCKER)
Another Super Bowl game for Kentucky basketball announced during Super Bowl weekend? How fitting.
The ESPN College GameDay crew has been on the road for three weeks as of today, next Saturday makes four. They started in Fayetteville for Kentucky’s trip to Arkansas on Jan. 27 before back-to-back blue-blood trips to Chapel Hill for North Carolina’s win over Duke, then to Lawrence to preview Kansas vs. Baylor.
Up next? You guessed it, another Kentucky game, this time for the Wildcats’ trip to Auburn to face Bruce Pearl and the Tigers.
They announced next week’s visit Saturday morning, this one being the first two-hour special since they started in January.
The ironic part of GameDay heading to Auburn? Pearl joked earlier this season that the Tigers were scheduling their t-shirt night for the Kentucky matchup specifically to avoid pissing John Calipari off. They chose February 17 as their AUTLIVE night, raising awareness for cancer prevention and detection with special AUTLIVE t-shirts, sales and donations benefitting cancer patients and their local hospitals.

“I just love doing them for Kentucky because if you don’t do it for Kentucky, John Calipari gets his feelings hurt,” Pearl said. “If it’s not a white out or a blue out or a black out, and you do it for somebody else, it pisses him off.”
He downplayed the Super Bowl, only for it to become the program’s Super Bowl. A week after the Super Bowl, no less.
Calipari is 8-6 vs. Pearl in the head-to-head rivalry since he took the Auburn job back in 2014. Coach Cal will do whatever it takes to make it 9-6.
And they’ll do it with GameDay in attendance.
