College Hoops Cheat Sheet: Super Bowl Weekend
We have reached the final football weekend of the calendar, but that does not mean that basketball is slowing down. There are not the marquee matchups that we had last week, but the second weekend in February has given us some intriguing matchups for all three days this weekend.
Before you get locked in for 49ers-Chiefs on Sunday evening, there will also be some college basketball consumption to check off your weekend to-do list. KSR’s College Hoops Cheat Sheet has a full preview of the weekend.
Let’s dive in.

Another Big 12 heavyweight bout
The Big 12 is the gift that keeps on giving this season. The best conference in college basketball has six top 25 teams at KenPom, and provides a high volume of quality games every week. Once again, this league will have the best matchup of the weekend.
After another road loss, Kansas will return home to face another ranked opponent on Saturday. After a three-game losing streak, Baylor has gotten things turned around with three consecutive wins and will now take on Kansas in the Phog.
The Jayhawks are just one loss back of first place in the conference, and Baylor is a half-game back of Houston in the Big 12 standings. Saturday evening in Lawrence could go a long way in determining who wins the conference on top of this being a Quad 1A opportunity for both Bill Self and Scott Drew.

Find the upsets
There is only one ranked vs. ranked matchup on the card this week, but there are plenty of ranked teams hitting the road to face unranked foes. We will see some upsets over the weekend. Can you find the underdogs who will win outright?
- No. 1 UConn at Georgetown
- No. 3 North Carolina at Miami
- No. 5 Houston at Cincinnati
- No. 6 Tennessee at Texas A&M
- No. 8 Arizona at Colorado
- No. 10 Illinois at Michigan State
- No. 11 Wisconsin at Rutgers
- No. 12 Auburn at Florida
- No. 16 Alabama at LSU
- No. 18 Dayton at VCU
- No. 19 Creighton at Xavier
- No. 20 Florida Atlantic at Wichita State
- No. 24 San Diego State at Nevada
That is a loaded card with over half of the top 15 hitting the road to face an unranked foe in ranked play. We should probably expect some chaos.
Bubble Watch
These are the games over the weekend with major bubble implications
- No. 19 Creighton at Xavier
- Providence at Butler
- No. 12 Auburn at Florida
- Gonzaga at No. 17 Kentucky
- No. 5 Houston at Cincinnati
- St. John’s at No. 7 Marquette
- Virginia at Florida State
- No. 8 Arizona at Colorado
- Seton Hall at Villanova
Xavier has started to get on a run and is making a push, but Sean Miller’s team really needs this home win over Creighton to have a legit shot at an at-large bid. Providence and Butler are in better shape in a low-key huge bubble game in the Big East. Florida is playing good basketball but needs a big home win. Saturday will give the Gators a great chance. The same goes for Cincinnati. Rick Pitino’s first St. John’s team is flirting with the bubble and had Marquette on the ropes in Madison Square Garden just a couple of weeks ago. Virginia is stacking wins in the ACC, but their resume stinks. Tony Bennett’s team needs as many wins as possible. Colorado is the Pac-12’s best shot a getting at third at-large team into the field of 68. The Buffs could use the Quad 1 win over Arizona. Seton Hall and Villanova is yet another bubble game in the Big East.
Let’s basketball.
