It’s time, folks. At long last, Kentucky football is here, starting with the season opener vs. Southern Miss on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network, the start of year 12 for Mark Stoops in Lexington.
The Cats hold firm as 27-point favorites at Kroger Field, a chance to open the season with a bang against a program that has given Kentucky fits over the years. And with a schedule this tough, you can’t really afford slip-ups in the games you’ve got to win. This one is included in that category.

UK star cornerback Maxwell Hairston narrates the minute-long clip, breaking down the 246 days it’s been since we’ve seen the Wildcats suit up.
“It hasn’t been a full year, but a lot has changed. One thing has stayed the same: you, Big Blue Nation,” he said. “You’ve been patiently waiting to hear those six words, and after all this time, the wait is finally over. It’s football time in the Bluegrass.”
