Earlier this week the University of Kentucky officially announced the addition of Zach Yenser. Now we know how much he will be making as the Kentucky offensive line coach.

Yenser signed a two-year deal with the Wildcats. He will earn $625,000 in his first season. That number jumps up to $650,000 in 2023. If Yenser departs for another job before his deal ends, he will owe the school $100,000.

Yenser will earn more than his predecessor. Eric Wolford was paid $450,000 for his first season in Lexington. He was set to receive a pay bump to $600,000 annually this summer, but he instead chose to leave early to coach Nick Saban’s offensive line at Alabama.

A native of Fort Mitchell, Ky., Yenser spent the last three seasons working for Kyle Shanahan as the San Francisco 49ers assistant offensive line coach. San Francisco did not surrender one sack on their march to the NFC Championship, their second appearance in three seasons. Yenser’s coaching career began in 2007 as a graduate assistant for John Schlarman at Troy.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to continue what Schlar started here in 2013,” Yenser said last night on BBN Radio. “Just watching it and watching him grow from where they started in 2013 to where it is today — it’s an absolute honor and a privilege to get on campus and work with these guys with one of the best units in college football. I don’t take that lightly. I’m truly, truly excited about it.”

In addition to Yenser, Kentucky also hired Mike Stoops to replace the departing Jon Sumrall. Mark’s older brother will earn $650,000 in year one. Brad White ($1.4 million), Liam Coen ($1.1 million) and Vince Marrow ($1.1 million) also received raises from UK’s broader assistant coaching salary pool. You can find all of the details to Yenser’s contract here.
