Corbin takes down Franklin County 40-20 in ranked matchup
The Corbin Redhounds (#19 in KSR’s Week 2 Kentucky High School Football Rankings) made the near hour-and-a-half trip to Franklin County (#24) Saturday night and left with an impressive 20-point victory, winning 40-20.
Led by big quarterback Kade Elam (a Louisville Baseball commit by the way…) and all-around athlete Zander Curry, Corbin shook off a sluggish start to score three touchdowns in the third quarter to blow the game wide open. Corbin head coach Tom Greer, who was born and raised in Corbin and was a part of the 1980 and 1982 state championship teams, was proud of how his team played.
“It’s a great win to come on the road and play at Franklin County. I’m telling you, that’s a dangerous football team,” Greer said after the win. “Here’s the thing, they’re going to get better and better. We’re green in a lot of spots and we’ve got to keep getting better as well. It was a good physical football game and I’m pleased with the win.”
Kentucky commit Moorman held at bay, minus one long score
Coming into tonight’s game, University of Kentucky football commit Kaden Moorman has had somewhat of a quiet season for his standards, but it’s hard to put up huge numbers when you’re the focus of every defense you play against.
“I’m not going to lie, since this year started, I’ve been zeroed in on every game,” Moorman said. “In the Bryan Station game, they did a safety blitz… who does a safety blitz? It’s something you’ve got to deal with every day.”
Moorman dealt with cramps all game and still managed to rip off a 40-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. Coach Greer spoke highly of Moorman after the game.

Tulsa expected to fire head coach
“He’s the best back in the state of Kentucky. He’s probably one of the best backs in the country. When Wisconsin offers you — and that was two years ago — I said ‘Oh my lord, they should fire me for even scheduling them with him.’ He’s a great player. There’s no doubt we zoned in on him.”
Corbin’s Elam All About His O-Linemen
Corbin’s Kaden Elam was the star of the game. No doubt about it, he dominated between the tackles and never went down on first contact. He had two QB sneak touchdowns, which brings his total to four on the season. However, he wouldn’t take credit for these physical runs. He gave all the praise to the big boys on the Corbin offensive line.
“I think I played good, but all the thanks go to the o-linemen,” Elam said. “We can’t play without them. They played good, and you saw what happened.”
Corbin advances to 3-0 on the season and hosts Pulaski County next week. Franklin County falls to 1-2 and travels to Ballard next weekend.
