Tonight at 7 o’clock, your 13th-ranked University of Kentucky Volleyball team hosts No. 3 Louisville in the biggest match of the regular season. More than a rivalry, tonight’s Cats-vs-Cards match in Lexington will be broadcast on ESPN to its millions of viewers, who tonight we hope are volleyball fans.

Craig Skinner, the head coach of Kentucky, hopes to sell out Memorial Coliseum for the school’s nationally-televised appearance on primetime ESPN. So to put out a call to Big Blue Nation for its support at home and in Memorial, KSR put out a call to Skinner on this morning’s show.

“Look, hardly ever is a regular season women’s volleyball match during football season ever on the mothership, ESPN,” Skinner told Matt Jones on this morning’s KSR show. “I think it’s been, since 1997, this is only the fourth time, fourth time, in over 25 years, and for us to get this opportunity to showcase our school in front of hundreds of thousands… I mean, you know, I hope it gets upwards of maybe a million people. I don’t know if that’s possible. But, we need everybody in the state to watch both of these programs.”

He added, “We need to sell out Memorial at some point–7,000, 8,000, a sold-out situation and this is a great opportunity to do that. I mean, Nebraska just had 15,700 people when they played Creighton last week, Wisconsin and Florida are going to have 17,000 Friday night, and Kentucky is the next program to do something like that and we’ve got to get opportunities like this to get people in the stands and show what it’s all about. I know our fans are phenomenal and what a great chance and we need you. Louisville is a great program and a great team and we need everybody to give ourselves the best chance.”

So if you’re able, help Skinner pack the place for Kentucky versus Louisville. Tickets are still available at UKathletics.com/tickets and the UK Athletics Ticket Office. If you can’t make it, drive that viewership up on ESPN at 7 PM ET to support the Wildcats.

L’s down forever and always.
