Cutter Boley Sensational as Lexington Christian Academy Routes Belfry
One day before an unofficial visit to Kentucky, highly ranked 2025 quarterback Cutter Boley tossed four touchdown passes and rushed for another, all before the midpoint of the second quarter.
Boley led No. 13 Lexington Christian Academy to a 36-7 win over Belfry on Friday night. His two-point conversion pass to Major Brown put a running clock on the reigning 3A state champ Pirates with 7:33 left in the second quarter.
One of the highest-ranked in-state quarterbacks since Tim Couch and Brian Brohm, Boley was in control all night. He mixed in precision passing with a sensational 24-yard touchdown run and a perfect deep bomb over the middle to Will Nichols for another score.
Boley, whose offers include Alabama, Michigan, and Kentucky, finished 15-for-20 for 263 yards and four touchdowns. He added another score on the ground. Nichols hauled in two touchdown passes with Brown and Parker Chaney also catching touchdowns. Drew Nieves, one of the Eagles’ top receivers, missed the game with an injury and is expected to miss a few more weeks.
Belfry, which starts a freshman quarterback and running back, struggled with kickoff returns and fumbles. Twice they found themselves in a hole while fumbling a kickoff return and recovering it deep in their own territory. They had a crucial lost fumble inside the LCA five-yard line late in the first quarter to lose all momentum. LCA’s Nichols and Johnny Bruce Drake were constantly wreaking havoc in the Belfry backfield. Dre Young led the Pirates with 17 carries for 144 yards. Caden Woolum rushed for a second-half touchdown.

Next up:
LCA hosts Christian Academy of Louisville next Friday, which is one of the favorites to win 3A. The game will be the first on the Eagles’ new turf field. Belfry hosts traditional 4A power Louisville Central.
Rankings Impact:
In Class 2A, LCA will be among the top teams along with the likes of Beechwood and Mayfield. Beechwood still hasn’t given up a point this season and Mayfield picked up an impressive 17-15 win over Paducah Tilghman, which is one of the best 3A squads.
LCA looks like a top 10 team in the state right now but is a little weighed down due to a last-second (literally) Week 1 loss to Madison Central. The Indians have come off closer-than-expected wins over Dunbar (one-point) and Madison Southern (overtime), neither of which will help their ranking.
Belfry fell out of the top 25 with a week one loss to Pulaski County and will now fall out of the 3A’s Top 5. They started out poorly last year but went on to become a state champion in the less-than-stellar 3A field. It will be tougher for Belfry this year because Mr. Football Isaac Dixon is now wearing UK blue instead of Belfry red, but I’m not counting out legendary coach Philip Haywood and the Pirates.
