Daimion Collins and LSU just dropped Arkansas to 0-4 in SEC play; Missouri beats No. 5 Florida
While Kentucky fans are celebrating the Cats’ fifth win over a top-15 opponent, Arkansas is spiraling. The Razorbacks moved to 0-4 in SEC play and 11-6 overall with tonight’s 78-74 loss to LSU.
A former Cat played a starring role in the upset vs. his former coach. Daimion Collins finished with 7 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, and a steal in the Tigers’ win in Baton Rouge. His final block was the biggest. With just four seconds left, Collins blocked his former teammate Adou Thiero’s shot to seal the victory, LSU’s first in conference play.
The internet is on fire with takes about Arkansas and John Calipari. The Razorbacks led by eight with 11:47 to go, but LSU refused to go away, taking the lead at the 9:46 mark with a Daimion Collins dunk and not looking back. When Boogie Fland cut LSU’s lead to four with four minutes to go, Collins threw down another dunk to push it back to six. Collins has scored more in other games this season, but tonight’s win has to feel especially sweet for the junior, who has battled injuries since transferring to LSU in 2023, not to mention the unexpected loss of his father in 2022.
As for the Razorbacks, oof. Arkansas was the first team out of Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology update this morning. Tonight’s loss will not help their resume. LSU is No. 69 in the NET Rankings, the second-to-worst team in the SEC behind South Carolina (No. 93). Even though tonight’s game was in Baton Rouge, a four-game losing streak is not a good look. Arkansas travels to Missouri on Saturday and hosts No. 23 Georgia and Oklahoma before coming to Lexington on Feb. 1.

No. 5 Florida falls to Missouri
That wasn’t the only upset tonight in the SEC. No. 5 Florida just lost at Missouri 83-82 to fall to 2-2 in SEC play, 15-2 overall. The loss comes one week after the Gators beat then-No. 1 Tennessee by 30 in Gainesville. No. 21 Ole Miss also beat No. 4 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, leaving the Rebels and the Auburn Tigers as the only SEC teams without a loss in conference play thus far.
Kentucky is now tied with Alabama and Missouri in the SEC standings at 3-1. The Cats host the Crimson Tide on Saturday. Never a dull moment in the SEC.
