College basketball is very much in draft decision season. Oh, there is also all of the transfer portal movement. Players returning to school can kind of get lost in the shuffle. However, the most recent news for Kentucky must not be slept on.
Freshman big Daimion Collins has made it official on his own personal Twitter account on Saturday afternoon. The Atlanta (Texas) High product will be returning to Kentucky for his sophomore season.
It was previously reported that the plan was for Daimion Collins to return in 2022-23, but we now have official word from the former five-star recruit. This past season, Collins saw a limited role where he averaged 2.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in just 7.4 minutes per game.
However, expectations are still promising for the high ceiling prospect. Collins has great size, length, athleticism, and a shooting touch that should fit well into the modern game of basketball. John Calipari believes that Collins can turn into a special player.

“We had talks with guys that are coming back about where they need to go with this. What holds them back from being that guy?” Calipari said after the season. “And so in Daimion’s case, look, I think he becomes one of the best players in the country. I think the things he does, normal players can’t do.”
Daimion Collins has some special traits that just cannot be taught, and the expectation is that the former blue-chipper will make a big leap this upcoming season. The sophomore will be joining National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe to create one of the best frontcourts in college basketball.
