Northern Colorado transfer Dalton Knecht has reportedly heard from Kentucky
We’ve entered roster building season in college basketball as the Final Four in Houston quickly approaches. Kentucky has a loaded recruiting class set to enroll this summer after starring in the McDonald’s All-American game, but the program will need some transfers to fill the gaps.
The coaching staff is currently in evaluation mode and will be tracking players that enter the transfer portal. After reports surfaced that Kentucky was showing interest in North Carolina wing Puff Johnson, another wing transfer target emerged on Thursday night.
Northern Colorado transfer Dalton Knecht is getting some early high major interest and the Wildcats have thrown their hat in the ring, according to Sean Paul of Mountain West Wire.
The 6-6 wing spent two seasons in the Big Sky Conference after a previous stop in junior college. The Colorado native saw a big jump in production this season jumping up from 8.9 points per game in 24.1 minutes in 2021-22 to 20.2 points per game in 35.3 minutes in 2022-23. The Bears finished 12-20 this season, but Knecht led his team in scoring and was a second-team all-conference selection.

Some big players in college basketball are aware of the production. This could be a heated transfer recruitment.
Knecht shot 38.3 percent from three on 6.3 attempts per game while also being Northern Colorado’s top defensive rebounder. Playing some small ball four, Knecht shot over 54 percent from two as he was one of the most efficient mid-major scorers in college hoops.
Signs point to Kentucky adding a wing that can play minutes at the three next season. Dalton Knecht will be a name to monitor over the next couple of weeks as John Calipari and his coaching staff mine the transfer portal for players that can bolster the UK’s 2023-24 roster.
