Dane Key will enroll early at Kentucky
Dane Key will waste little time stepping on Kentucky’s campus following his commitment to the Wildcats on Thursday evening. The 4-star wide receiver told LEX 18‘s Keith Farmer shortly after announcing his decision that he will enroll early and join the program in the spring.
“I will enroll early. I will,” Key told Farmer. “It’s important to me so I can get into the offense and get with Coach (Liam) Coen and we can make something happen next year.”
Getting Dane Key on campus early will be important for his development, especially as he adapts to Liam Coen’s pro-style offense. Kentucky typically has a big handful of commits that enroll early. Heading into this past season, guys such as Key’s former (and future) teammate Jager Burton and Justice Dingle were early enrollees.

Key will complete the rest of the fall semester for Frederick Douglass and play in the team’s upcoming postseason run. The Broncos are 9-0 on the 2021 season with plenty of challenges ahead. Friday’s top 10 matchup against 8-1 Boyle County will be one of the most anticipated Kentucky high school bouts of the season.
On the season, Key has hauled in 31 receptions for a team-leading 501 yards and five touchdowns. The 6-foot-2 wideout is considered a top 300 prospect in the country and is the highest-ranked receiver to pick Kentucky in the Mark Stoops era.
