Dane Key will make his college decision on Thursday
We’re coming down the final stretch for one of the most important Kentucky recruits from the class of 2022. Frederick Douglass High School star wide receiver, Dane Key, will make his college decision this Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. EST inside of the FDHS cafeteria. The 6-foot-2 senior is down to Kentucky, South Carolina, Oregon, and Michigan.
Dane Key is widely considered as one of the top 300 players in the country. He is a consensus four-star prospect and the best recruit from the state of Kentucky. Our friends over at On3 rank Key as the 290th best player in the country.
Kentucky associate head coach Vince Marrow got one final look at Key over the weekend, watching Frederick Douglass defeat Montgomery County 54-7. Marrow has been the lead recruiter for Key from the jump and the two have formed a solid relationship. Key has been a frequent visitor to the Lexington campus over the summer, as well, taking official and unofficial visits; he also rushed the field in UK’s win over Florida.

The folks over at 247 Sports and Rivals have logged a combined four picks in favor of Key staying home and choosing the ‘Cats. Adding him to the class of 2022 would be a massive get for Kentucky and the perception of the offense. If the staff can also manage to land five-star wide receiver Barion Brown, UK would hold a top 15 recruiting class in the nation with more expected to come.
During his senior season as Frederick Douglass (9-0), Key leads his team in receiving with 31 catches for 501 yards and five touchdowns. FDHS has just one game left on its regular-season schedule, a showdown against 8-1 Boyle County this Friday.
