Darryn Peterson schedules official visit to Kentucky for March 6
Get your presentation ready, Coach Cal. You’ve got a big one coming to Lexington in the next few weeks — Kentucky’s final home game of the season, to be specific.
Darryn Peterson, one of the top guard prospects in high school basketball, regardless of class, has scheduled his official visit for March 6. It will be his first official after taking a number of unofficials over the past few years, including one to Kentucky back in October for Big Blue Madness.
The Wildcats are set to take on Vanderbilt that evening for Senior Night.
Travis Graf of Cats Illustrated and MADE Hoops broke the news.
The five-star guard trimmed his list to eight to open the new year with Arkansas, Baylor, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio State all making the cut. Becoming the first high school player to sign an NIL deal with Adidas, though, the Jayhawks are seen as a top threat, as are the Wildcats with Peterson becoming the first-ever rising sophomore to earn a scholarship offer from Coach Cal in August 2022.
KU has the apparel ties and UK has been recruiting him since the eighth grade. Those are your 1A and 1B options.
“They’re One-and-Done University,” Peterson told KSR of Kentucky. “Most guards that go there go one-and-done and immediately go to the league and play well.”

“They’ve been recruiting me since a young age, so I have a good relationship with them,” he added of Kansas. “And they’ve got good guard play there, too.”
Peterson is a rumored reclass candidate, as well, physically talented enough to make the jump to 2024 if interested. The issue, though, is he’s young for his class and would have to stay in college two years before entering the NBA Draft, just like Jayden Quaintance decided to do with Kentucky.
That option will be available to him through the summer, but as things stand today, he is sticking with 2025.
“I’m staying ’25. I’m set on it,” Peterson told KSR. “Just more time to get better and go into college prepared.”
