Dazia Lawrence and Georgia Amoore continue to develop their chemistry together
When Dazia Lawrence committed to Kentucky, they got one of the more underrated scorers in all of college basketball. At Charlotte last season, Lawrence averaged 18.2 points per game on 42.6% shooting from the field.
Having shot just under 15 shots per game, Lawrence needed the ball in her hands a lot to be able to create her own shot. However, at Kentucky, Lawrence won’t have to worry about trying to create space on her own (all the time, at least) because Georgia Amoore can dish the rock to her at any given time.
When KSR sat down with Ciara Gregory, who coached Lawrence at Charlotte and will do so at Kentucky as well, she explained how Lawrence and Amoore have really started to complement each other on the court despite both of them typically being ball-dominant players.
Lawrence herself agreed with the sentiment that she and Amoore have been a functional and successful one-two punch together.
“It’s been very amazing [building my chemistry with Georgia],” Lawrence explained during Kentucky’s summer media day. “Georgia is a great point guard, and being able to play with a point guard who can get her own and also pass the ball at a very high level has been very exciting.”

Amoore is a very talented offensive player, obviously. Not just scoring the ball but also passing it. It didn’t take long for Lawrence to realize that she has to always be ready to shoot because the ball could end up in her hands in the blink of an eye.
“She makes passes sometimes and I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot.’ Just always being ready — that’s one thing that I’ve learned. You never know when she’s going to give you the ball or how she’s going to give you the ball, but just playing alongside her has been great.”
Lawrence added, “I’ve learned a lot about her, and [we’re] having fun. She’s a very fun player to watch and she’s a very fun player to play with as well.”
Amoore is going to open up Kentucky’s offense in a multitude of ways, and that includes allowing Lawrence to do what she best — put the ball in the hoop.
