In a dominating performance at Memorial Coliseum, Kentucky Women’s Basketball rolled straight past the Wofford Terriers to earn its third straight win of the season. The ‘Cats settled into a groove despite having some defensive troubles for the first two games of the season, and held the Terriers to only 42 points through 40 minutes of play.

Kentucky came out of the gates hot, scoring 22 points in the first quarter. Funnily enough, Dazia Lawrence finally had her big game, scoring 15 points in her first eight minutes of play. The redshirt senior finished the night with 19 points on 6-9 (67%) from the field. She led her team in three-pointers, adding four. Lawrence was the only Wildcat in double-digits for the first half, however. The next player in blue and white to secure 10 was Clara Strack in the middle of the third quarter. Strack finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists, to mark her second double-double of the season.

Kentucky held Wofford to only eight points in the first quarter, and kept the Terriers to 12 in the first half. Without their best player, Rachael Rose, the Terriers were unable to find any sort of momentum against Kentucky. Wofford shot only 14-69 FG (20%), and a minuscule 5-30 (17%) from the perimeter. Leading the Terriers in shooting was Maddie Heiss, with 11 points on 3-10 (30%) from the field. The only stat Wofford beat the ‘Cats in was turnovers, finishing with 13 compared to Kentucky’s 16. Plus winning the offensive rebound battle, 16-14.

The second quarter was a complete turnaround compared to the first. Despite scoring 12 total points, Kentucky’s offense slowed. The Terriers were able to only slightly close the gap, but couldn’t do much more. Both teams went a combined 7-33 (21%) from the field before the half. Kenny Brooks must’ve said something to his team to get the ball rolling again though, considering Kentucky came out of the half on an 11-2 run before the first timeout.

Cassidy Rowe scored her first points of the night, a three-pointer through a foul. While she missed her free throw, that didn’t stop her team from celebrating the junior’s efforts. Plus, she closed out the third quarter with a perfect block on Wofford’s Maddie Heiss. Georgia Amoore heated up in the third, scoring seven points on 3-7 (42%) from the field, including a three-pointer. The All-American finished with 11 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and a steal.

In the fourth, Brooks stuck with pretty much the same lineup, but adding in Tanah Becker and Gabby Brooks. Saniah Tyler and Lexi Blue added a combined seven points, sealing the Wildcats’ victory over the Wofford Terriers. Kentucky Women’s Basketball is back in action against the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Memorial Coliseum. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m. EST and can be watched on the SEC Network+.
