Dazia Lawrence has stuck around to help Kentucky WBB's newcomers get acclimated

Dazia Lawrence quickly became a fan favorite at Kentucky. The Charlotte transfer was one of the best players on last year’s team, but she was also one of the bigger personalities on the team. Lawrence has been in Lexington all summer, even though her collegiate career has come to a close.
She’s been involved in all kinds of community work that the team has partaken in as of late.
While in town, Lawrence has also spent some time in the Joe Craft Center hanging around Kenny Brooks‘ program. There was a notable void left by the 5-foot-8 guard, but the staff brought in a number of pieces to help fill said void, including Asia Boone.
Boone, who spent her first two years in college at Liberty, is in a very similar spot that Lawrence was in heading into last season. Lawrence had to adopt a new role at Kentucky alongside Georgia Amoore, and Boone is going through a change like Lawrence did, but instead of going from being the point guard to being off the ball, Boone is going from off the ball to taking on some point guard duties behind Tonie Morgan.
It’s been a challenging transition for Boone, but having Lawrence around as a mentor has been a blessing for the 2024 Conference USA Freshman of the Year.

“Just knowing I can go to somebody and talk about — like D-Law — I always go to her because she’s here sometimes,” Boone said at media day. “So, I always go to her for advice, ask her questions because she was in the exact same position that I was last year. It’s just good to get her insight, pick her brain on like how to succeed in the position I am right now.”
Boone added, “I love it. She’s an amazing person. She’s a leader for sure, she’s a born leader. She’s taught me a lot within the couple of weeks we’ve been spending together, and we worked out yesterday and she got on me a lot. It’s just taught me a lot about myself and also her.”
