Keep on lighting that beam.

Led by yet another De’Aaron Fox masterclass, the Sacramento Kings continue to defy the odds with another victory Monday night.

With a 118-111 overtime win at Minnesota, the Kings find themselves at 28-21, good for third in the Western Conference. Fox continued his fourth-quarter heroics, finishing with 32 points, five rebounds, and four assists. “Swipa” is third in the NBA in the category of “points scored in the fourth quarter” this season with 339. Only Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have scored more.

Fox is averaging 24.1 PPG this season, good for seventh amongst Western Conference guards. Fox’s leadership skills and chemistry with Domantas Sabonis have transformed the lowly Kings from one of the laughingstocks of the NBA to one of the most energetic in the entire league.

Malik Monk continues to shine as Sacramento’s resident sixth man, scoring 19 points in 32 minutes off the bench. Monk shot 9-14 from the field, although he was 0-2 from beyond the arc. Trey Lyles continues to produce for the Kings, as he contributed 11 points on 4-6 shooting.

The Kings are really, really fun and have become one of the best watches in the entire league, especially for Kentucky fans looking to see their guys succeed in the league.

Gilgeous-Alexander Drops 31 in Loss to Warriors

Death, taxes, an SGA 30-bomb.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted his 30th 30+ point game of the season Monday night, good for second most in the entire NBA. Dallas’ Luka Doncic’s 34 games of the sort is the league’s benchmark.

The Thunder, however, were no match for Stephen Curry’s 38 points, as OKC fell to reigning champion Golden State Warriors 128-120.

After the game, future Hall of Famer Stephen Curry spoke highly of the former ‘Cat.

“He’s shifty, plays at his own pace, nobody can rush him, he’s tall enough to shoot over you… We knew coming into the game that he was gonna make tough shots… and he ended up with 31 after scoring two in the 1st quarter.”

High praise for the Canadian superstar.

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • Keldon Johnson continued his breakout season Monday night, scoring 26 points in San Antonio’s ugly 106-127 loss to the Washington Wizards. It seems as if Coach Popovich may have thrown in the towel and decided to steer their future towards the 2023 NBA Draft lottery and the belle of the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama. San Antonio’s home loss to Washington Monday night marked the Wizards’ first victory in San Antonio since December 11, 1999. It may look bleak now, but the future is bright in San Antonio.
  • The LeBron/Anthony Davis less-Lakers fell once again Monday night, bringing their record down to 23-28. Wenyen Gabriel scored 11 points on 5-10 shooting in 16 minutes off the bench. LA’s premier team is officially in danger of missing the postseason for the second consecutive season.
