Dee Beckwith, Former 4-Star Tennessee RB, Transfers to Kentucky

Kentucky added another surprise to its backfield Wednesday night. Shortly after Ramon Jefferson announced his transfer from Sam Houston State, Kentucky released its 2022 roster. Wearing No. 21 is running back Dee Beckwith.
A four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class according to the On3 Consensus, Beckwith initially committed to Tennessee. A 6-foot-5, 230 pound athlete, he’s an imposing figure on the gridiron that has played multiple positions in his two-year collegiate career. He started at wide receiver in Knoxville, then slid over to running back. He also has logged time on defense and special teams.

Beckwith’s versatility at the SEC level stems from his time in high school. As a senior for Florence (Al.) High School he played quarterback, receiver and running back, tallying 1,055 rushing yards, 589 passing yards and 526 receiving yards to go along with 27 total touchdowns. He earned first team All-State honors and also lettered in basketball and track and field.
Best described as a “ball player,” Beckwith has the size and skill set to play running back, orhe could line up at a couple of featured positions in Rich Scangarello’s new offense, fullback and the hybrid tight end (think Izayah Cummings). Kentucky had some available scholarships to play with; why not use one on a versatile former blue chip recruit that previously played for your rival?
