Denver Nuggets will reportedly sign DeMarcus Cousins to 10-day contract
DeMarcus Cousins was playing some sound and efficient basketball before the Milwaukee Bucks waived him earlier this week. And as expected, it didn’t take him long for another NBA franchise to come calling.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Denver Nuggets intend to sign Cousins to a 10-day contract. A deal has not been finalized as of yet, but a meeting between Cousins and Nuggets president Tim Connelly is expected to come very soon where a deal will then come to fruition.
The Undefeated’s Marc Spears reports that Cousins is flying to Denver sometime on Sunday in order to receive a physical and other necessary testing. Spears also added that the Dallas Mavericks showed interest in signing Cousins.
Through 17 games with the Bucks this season, Cousins averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per outing while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor. The 31-year old even started five games for Milwaukee, filling in for the usual starting center Brook Lopez, who has been sidelined most of the season due to an injury.

The Bucks’ decision to waive Cousins was a bit of a head-scratcher when it occurred, but the consensus was that he wouldn’t be on the market for long. The Nuggets will bring Cousins off the bench to replace reigning MVP Nikola Jokic in spot minutes.
Cousins will have 10 days from the moment his contract is finalized to make an impression on the Nuggets. Denver plays the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night, so he likely won’t play in that contest. However, he could be ready to go for Tuesday’s matchup on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Congrats to Boogie! It’s well-deserved.
