Devin Booker sends John Calipari, Kentucky Wildcats a holiday gift -- exclusive Nike Book 1s
Devin Booker is releasing his first Nike sneaker this holiday season, and he wanted his old friends in Lexington to be among the first to get their hands on a pair.
The NBA superstar’s first signature shoe, the Nike Book 1, will get a limited release this Christmas before a complete rollout in the spring with an expected cost of $150. Before that, though, he sent the Kentucky Wildcats a team set to wear, that shipment arriving this week.
“Look what showed up for all of us!” John Calipari shared Tuesday. “Thanks, (Devin Booker)!!”
Players have begun sharing photos of their new sneakers, gifted by the three-time All-Star and former Wildcat.
Take a closer look at the sneakers, influenced by Booker with references to his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI and his high school of Moss Point in Mississippi. The words “CHAPTER ONE” are written across the heel of each shoe, inspired by the spine of a book. The released colorway is a nod to his current franchise, the Phoenix Suns, whose primary team colors are orange and purple.

“Early on, we landed on the phrase ‘future classic,’” Booker said of his new shoe, according to Nike. “We landed on the idea of the shoe combining lifestyle and performance worlds. The goal was to create something that would be timeless.”
Wanting to get your hand on a pair? Good luck. This debut colorway is limited to 500 released pairs — and a dozen are so will be worn by Wildcats in Lexington.
You can currently buy them resale for upward of $2,400 on StockX, among other outlets. Better luck in the spring, maybe.
