Devin Leary makes strong impression at Manning Passing Academy
The hype is building for new Kentucky quarterback Devin Leary. Things did not slow down for the super senior at a prestigious QB camp.
The former NC State transfer spent the last week in southern Louisiana at the prestigious Manning Passing Academy spending time with some of the best quarterbacks in college football. UK’s new QB1 made a splash in throwing competitions.
On3 had boots on the ground and has a full write-up of the event. Leary looked the part as one of the camp’s top performers.
Kentucky fans, buckle up. Leary is healthy again, and it showed on Friday night. Leary was among the more consistent passers during the skills challenge, and he looked far removed from the pectoral injury that limited him to six games at NC State a year ago. After transferring from the Wolfpack to the Wildcats, Leary is poised to take over Mark Stoops’ offense with Will Levis now in the NFL. Don’t forget, Leary threw for 3,433 yards, 35 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2021.

Expectations are high for Devin Leary in Lexington. After a strong showing in spring practice, that bar is not being lowered. Kentucky needs the ACC transfer to deliver and stay healthy. So far, the newest QB transfer addition is checking the required boxes.

“Kentucky fans? We’re in for a ride this year. I can’t wait. I’m going to strap up every single week, lay it all on the line,” Leary said. “And, you know, we’re a family. We’re going out there playing as a family behind Coach Stoops.”
“This year, you know, it’s ours for the taking. “We’ve just got to go out there and put the work in.”
The vibes are strong for the Kentucky offense largely due to the return of offensive coordinator Liam Coen and the addition of Coen. Thanks to some transfer additions, it appears that the floor has been raised for the offensive line. Add in the returning production at receiver and there is much to like about the potential of this offense on paper.
Confidence does not appear to be lacking in the Joe Craft Football Training Facility. The new QB1 is leading the way.
