Dickie V gives Kyle Wiltjer some love
While much of the focus in the last few days has been on a few guys who left after just one year in college, Dick Vitale decided to look at some who will be coming back for year two. He picked six sophomores that he believes can take their game to another level in 2012-13, and one of them is Kentucky’s Kyle Wiltjer. Dickie V says that even though he played relatively limited minutes, Wiltjer is a player to watch next year:
National champion Kentucky lost most of its talent from a season ago. One guy back to keep an eye on is Kyle Wiltjer. He showed glimpses during limited playing time and John Calipari will call on him to be a difference-maker in the season ahead. He can go inside or step out and shoot the jumper.
Wiltjer will be huge to the success of next years team. If he makes the leap between his freshman and sophomore years the way that many players do, he can be a valuable and lethal weapon for the 2012-13 Cats. He was good last year, but if he develops into the reliable and consistent threat that most believe he can be, he becomes outstanding and Kentucky reaches a new level.
The other five sophs on Vitale’s list were North Carolina’s James Michael McAdoo, Louisville’s Wayne Blackshear, Syracuse’s Rakeem Buckles, Memphis’ Adonis Thomas and UConn’s Ryan Boatright. Check out the rest of the breakdown here.
