Kentucky was hit with some tough recruiting news this week when high three-star offensive lineman Tyreek Jemison backed off his commitment to the Wildcats. Now one of the UK’s two currently QB commits is taking yet another visit to another power conference program.

Buford (Ga.) High quarterback DJ Hunter will make the trip to Maryland this week. The Terps are off to a 4-1 (1-1) start and hosting Nebraska for a big home game in College Park on Saturday afternoon.

The class of 2027 recruit has taken visits to Kentucky (Aug. 30), Ole Miss (Sept. 13), Duke (Sept. 20), and West Virginia (Sept. 27) already this football season. Now Maryland will get the top-500 recruit on campus. Hunter committed to Kentucky on April 7.

DJ Hunter is currently the only commit in Kentucky’s 2027 class. The prospect is locked in with the Cats but is still considering other options at the moment. In the 2026 class, Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller quarterback Matt Ponatoski remains committed to the Wildcats as he wraps up his senior season.
