DJ Miller wants to make impact as true freshman for Kentucky

St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter wide receiver DJ Miller was a massive high school recruiting win for the Kentucky football program in the 2025 cycle. A UK vs. Ole Miss battle came down to the absolute wire before Miller decided to sign with the Wildcats during the December signing period.
The high three-star recruit recorded 137 receptions, 2,393 receiving yards and 33 receiving touchdowns over his last two seasons of high school football. A two-time state champion in Missouri, Miller enrolled early at Kentucky and gives offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan a big-bodied wideout with a sizable catch radius, terrific at balltracking and a vertical play creator.
There was a belief that DJ Miller could push for playing time as a true freshman. Throughout spring practice, the young receiver has been one of the offense’s standout performers. Kentucky loaded up at wide receiver in the transfer portal but Miller could very well be the future in Lexington.
The young player believes he has put himself in place to contribute in year one.
“I feel like I’ve gotten better with my assignments. Especially blocking and just making plays outside on the perimeter and getting my depth on certain routes and just making big plays,” Miller told reporters on Wednesday. “I feel like that’s what I’ve gotten better at.”

“I’ve been able to make some big plays. Been able to prove that I can definitely be a big-time guy. I feel like that’s definitely what I came here for.”
The young wideout will be a player to watch at Kentucky’s Spring Showcase on Saturday morning at Kroger Field. The Wildcats need some more size at wide receiver on the outside and Miller gives the offense another big body who can make tough catches.

Do not be surprised to see DJ Miller carve out a rotation spot at wide receiver in year one. Kentucky got old at the position via the transfer portal this offseason but this program will need some young talent to take over and claim starting spots and leadership positions sooner rather in later. Miller appears to be in prime position to do that. This is a strong recruiting win that is showing promise quickly.
