One of the most anticipated recruitments of the John Calipari Era is about to come to a close. DJ Wagner will announce his college decision at 3 p.m. ET on SportsCenter’s social media accounts. The 6’3″ combo guard is down to Kentucky and Louisville, with the Cats considered the heavy favorite.

Wagner is the No. 6 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. According to the Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Kentucky has a 99.0% chance of landing Wagner. The Cats have long been the favorite for Wagner in large part because of his family’s relationship with John Calipari. Calipari coached DJ’s father, Dajuan, at Memphis. After his freshman season, Calipari famously tore up Dajuan’s scholarship and pushed him to the NBA, which ended up being a blessing. Dajuan was drafted sixth and made $7.4 million on his rookie deal. A few years later, he was diagnosed with colitis and had surgery to remove half his colon, which eventually ended his NBA career.

Wagner’s high school teammate Aaron Bradshaw is already committed to Kentucky and is expected to sign in the coming days. Reed SheppardRob Dillingham, and Justin Edwards already signed their letters of intent last week.

Not long, now, BBN. Get ready by watching his highlights.
