LOOK: DJ Wagner joins fellow freshmen in Lexington

The fifth, but perhaps not final, member of Kentucky’s freshman class is now on campus. Yesterday, five-star guard DJ Wagner moved into the Wildcat Coal Lodge, joining Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham, Aaron Bradshaw, and Justin Edwards. Wagner, his stepbrother and senior walk-on Kareem Watkins, and parents Dajuan and Syretta posed in his new digs for the Kentucky Basketball social media team:
Wagner went straight to work, joining his teammates for the final day of satellite camps.
In March, Wagner was named Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year for the third straight year. As a senior, he averaged 22.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Wagner and fellow UK freshman Justin Edwards were named SLAM High School All-Americans a few weeks ago and split Iverson Classic MVP honors in April. Wagner was also named MVP of the McDonald’s All-American Game in March.

How are the freshmen settling in? Earlier this week, UK mic’d up Justin Edwards during a camp. Watch below to see him interact with campers and center Ugonna Onyneso.
Is Wagner the final freshman to move into the lodge? Probably not. 2024 4-star center Somto Cyril is currently on his official visit to Kentucky and could reclassify to join next season’s team. Three-star guard Joey Hart arrives on campus tomorrow. Three-star forward Jordan Burks announces his decision on Monday. There’s a very good chance that by early next week, the Cats will have added some much-needed depth to the roster (albeit not experience).
