DJ Wagner remains day-to-day with ankle injury: "It's black and blue"
Will Kentucky standout DJ Wagner be able to suit up for his homecoming game in Philadelphia against Penn on Saturday? That remains up in the air.
The freshman guard was in the gym today watching practice while receiving treatment on his ankle — which remains bruised. And though he wants to suit up down the road from his hometown of Camden, NJ, his game status won’t be finalized until closer to tip-off.

Things turned ugly as game ended
“DJ was in the gym today doing stuff with his ankle. He’s day-to-day,” John Calipari said during his call-in radio show Monday evening. “Whether he plays Saturday, we won’t know for a while. He was in there watching, he’s getting treatment.
“I know he wants to play. It’s not swollen, but it’s black and blue.”
Wagner is averaging 13.1 points, 3.3 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 25 minutes per contest. He was coming off back-to-back standout performances where he combined for 50 points against Saint Joseph’s and Marshall before injury. The former five-star recruit injured his ankle in the first half of Kentucky’s win vs. Miami (FL), forcing him to miss the entirety of the second half and all of the team’s loss to UNCW.
Will he miss a second straight game? To be determined.
