DJ Wagner is back after a one-game hiatus, starting for Kentucky in his homecoming matchup vs. Penn in Philadelphia. John Calipari confirmed the freshman guard would give it a go after returning to practice late in the week.

He went down with an ankle injury in the first half of the Wildcats’ win over Miami (FL) on Nov. 28.

Wagner joins Antonio Reeves, Justin Edwards, Adou Thiero and Tre Mitchell in the starting lineup.

“He’s practiced,” Calipari said. “We will put him in and see how he is.”

Calipari added that Aaron Bradshaw had a solid week of practice with no injury setbacks and will be among the first players off the bench for the Cats, joining Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham.

Another bonus? Ugonna Onyenso is nearing a return, as well. Though he will not play vs. Penn, Calipari did not rule him out in Kentucky’s matchup vs. UNC in the CBS Sports Classic next weekend.

“He won’t play tonight,” Calipari said, “but hopefully by next weekend we’ll have another guy.”

Good news all around. Beat Penn.
