Dominic Niman and Mason Moore Named Preseason All-Americans
Kentucky Baseball’s LHP Dominic Niman and Lexington Regional standout RHP Mason Moore were named Preseason All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Tuesday.
Niman was named to the First-Team, while Moore was named to the Third-Team.
The lefty Niman had himself a phenomenal career at Central Connecticut State before transferring to Kentucky for his final season of collegiate baseball. In four seasons (49 appearances), Niman pitched 213 innings and boasted a 3.25 ERA.
His 2023 campaign was extra special, as Niman pitched 104 innings (15 starts) and held an ERA of just 2.77 with an impressive 12-2 record. He was named ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-America, was named to the College Baseball Second-Team, and was voted the Division I Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year.
Niman has big shoes to fill with the departures of starting pitchers Zack Lee and Logan Martin.
Mason Moore, who will join Niman in the starting rotation this season, also has lofty expectations for the 2024 season.

Moore has phenomenal in the Lexington Regional last summer. He pitched 10 innings, giving up just four hits and no runs while striking out seven batters. He spoke on his new mindset as a starter at Kentucky Baseball’s Media Day on Tuesday.
“I’m going to try and approach things the same,” Moore said. “Starting is obviously different than relieving, but last year at the end of the year I was throwing 3-5 innings at a time. I know what I have and I know what I can bring to the team. When you have a defense and a catcher like we do, it’s kind of hard not to go out there with a simple mind.”
The junior Moore pitched 55 innings in 2023, boasting a 4-1 W-L record with a 1.80 ERA and a 50:34 K/BB ratio.
Kentucky opens its regular season on the road at USC-Upstate on Feb. 16.
