Dominika Paurová, Clara Silva continue to prove their worth in FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket
Whenever Dominika Paurová committed to Kentucky, folks intertwined with European basketball quickly took notice. One European sports journalist in particular said that she and Clara Silva are “two of the best European projects of their respective generations“.
Now, Kentucky has both of them.
With Paurová coming in as a sophomore and Silva coming in as a freshman, it’ll be interesting to see how both player fit in with an already deep roster. However, in the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket, both are playing exceptionally well.
Dominika Paurová (Czech Republic)
As for Paurová, she is averaging 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and two assists through three games played. In Czech Republic’s first game against Switzerland, she put up 12 points, five rebounds, and two steals in a 76-66 win. In the next game against Slovakia, she only scored one point, but she contributed by grabbing five rebounds and recording a steal and a block.
However, her best performance came on Monday as she scored 18 points shooting 7-13 (4-8 3PT) from the field while also tallying six assists, five rebounds and five steals against Ireland. Her team-high 2.7 steals per game have her tied for 11th in the event.

Additionally, on June 21st, Paurová scored 18 points while making eight of her 11 shots against Ireland.
Clara Silva (Portugal)
Similarly to Paurová, Silva has been a standout player in the event. Through two games, Silva is averaging 10 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks (!!!) and 2.5 assists per game. Silva is far and away the leader in total blocks (9) and blocks per game. Second place has only recorded four blocks, averaging two per game.
No need to call the swat team when Silva can handle it all by herself.
In Portugal’s first game, which was against Sweden, Silva scored a respectable eight points while recording five rebounds, three blocks and two steals. The following game, she tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks and five assists against Montenegro.
