Dontaie Allen held out of Western Kentucky game due to eligibility issue
Western Kentucky just lost to Akron 72-53 in the Cayman Islands Classic without Dontaie Allen on the floor. Minutes before tipoff, WKU head coach Rick Stansbury announced that Allen was being held out due to an eligibility issue at his previous school. That previous school is obviously Kentucky.
“Dontaie Allen will not be available while an eligibility matter related to his previous school and conference is clarified. We hope to have the situation resolved soon.”
In a statement, UK Athletics said it is working with Western Kentucky to resolve the issue. The Hilltoppers play Illinois State tomorrow at 11 a.m. EST.

“UK is aware of the statement from Western Kentucky regarding Dontaie Allen, and is working with them to resolve the situation.”
While the game was in progress, Allen tweeted this:
Allen transferred to Western Kentucky in April 2022 after three years in Lexington. As a redshirt sophomore, he averaged only 2.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game, down from his redshirt freshman average of 5.4 points and 1.5 rebounds. In three games with the Hilltoppers, Allen is averaging 8.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 47.1% from the floor.
